Kurt Russell says his role in The Madison reflects his real-life relationship with Goldie Hawn

Kurt Russell says his role in The Madison reflects aspects of his real-life relationship with Goldie Hawn.
Describing parallels between the on-screen marriage and his own long-term partnership, the 75-year-old actor spoke about their romance mirroring art as he stars opposite Michelle Pfeiffer in the series, playing Preston, the late husband of Pfeiffer's character Stacy.
The show follows Stacy after Preston's death in the opening episode, prompting her to leave her home and relocate to Montana, where she reconnects with a life her husband had valued.
Speaking to Men's Health, Kurt said the relationship portrayed in the series mirrors conversations he has had with Goldie, with whom he has been in a relationship since 1983.
He said: "Some of the conversations that (Preston and Stacy) have, I've had.
"Goldie and I have had very similar conversations.
"Their relationship, it's the kind of relationship you almost never see anymore. It's a truly loving relationship. It's not like there's another shoe to drop. That's what makes it so difficult for (Michelle's) character when she loses her husband.
"She's realising how much more they could have had that they didn't have because of something she didn't do.
"I think a lot of people relate to that kind of regret.
"As you get older and you've only got so much time left, that doubles things up in terms of looking at what you've done in your life so far and what you want to do with the rest of your life."
Kurt also described similarities between his character's connection to place and his own experiences, referencing his move to Colorado earlier in life.
Kurt said: "I moved to Colorado when I was 26 years old. At a certain point, you find yourself asking whether you're going to live the life you want to live, or if you're just going to talk about it.
"And I decided to make the move and live the life I wanted to live.
"But my business was still primarily out of Los Angeles, so my life's been split, going back and forth.
"I'm glad I did what I did. I've enjoyed my life the way I've wanted to and I've been able to continue on in the business too. I was able to make that happen."
Goldie has previously spoken about her relationship with Kurt, including his role in her children's lives.
She shares children Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson with Bill Hudson, and Wyatt Russell with Kurt.
Goldie added: "What really got me was when I watched my kids when they'd come to the set and how he was with them.
"He was amazing with them. He was such a natural."
The Madison is available to stream on Paramount+, with further episodes scheduled for release on 21 March.
